Signature Mocktails

We’ve all been to the classic Pooh bear showers and played that “guess the baby food” game, but sometimes we just want new ideas! If you’re hoping to plan a unique baby shower, you’ve come to the right place. We have some new personalized baby shower favors, baby shower food ideas including Signature Mocktails, and other ideas for how to plan a baby shower with your own original touches.

Baby Shower Theme
Nothing shows your creativity more than your choice of theme, and this choice will guide you through the rest of your decisions. Many planners still stick to the pastel basics when it comes to baby shower themes, but why not mix up your palette for a bold or sophisticated look?

Bold Books for a New Look
Use children’s books as your inspiration and let Dr. Seuss lead the way! Think The Cat in the Hat, and choose teal and coral in several shades, incorporating in your baby shower décor, place settings and favors. Your cake may not look as lopsided as the one on page 17, but add a bit of pink icing and it will fit in brilliantly!

There’s a whole library of favorite stories for bold color options. Green Eggs and Ham with its persimmon-and-green cover, for example, could lend two or three colors to your shower’s palette.

For book theme showers, invite guests to select a gift to add to the baby’s library.

Blue-Beary Theme
Blueberries for Sal is another favorite children’s book (especially here in Maine!). Robert McCloskey’s classic with its monochromatic illustrations inspires a sophisticated baby shower. Deep navy paired with white or ivory creates the palette; consider a bear cub motif for invitations (not your average teddy bear theme!), and blueberry lip balm, lotions or bath salts for baby shower favors. For dessert, a blueberry cake or cupcakes are excellent choices.

Use your imagination and revisit other children’s literature to choose color schemes and motifs. Remember that the words and images in books are protected by copyright, so use them for inspiration, not duplication.

A recent trend in events is to choose a Signature Cocktail to accent the theme. This is great for weddings or bridal showers, but what about a baby shower? Most planners drop alcoholic beverages from the baby shower menu out of sympathy for the mom-to-be, but consider featuring a Signature Mocktail that everyone can enjoy.

See our recipes below for Babylove, Lullaby, and Apple of My Eye mocktails, and take a look at our matching lip balm favors in these inspired baby theme flavors!
