Back in May I shared my plan to donate 10% of our profits to Kiva. We’re playing catch up this month, making donations for July as well as August. I’m happy to share more details about some of these loan recipients!
Our loan to the Fuente Para El Desarollo 2 & 5 Group helps member Berky buy cosmetics and perfume for resale. This group is from El Seibo, Dominican Republic, and Berky’s dream is to have “a sustainable business.”
Apolinaria is from Badian, Cebu, Philippines. She is a vegetable farmer and also has a store to increase her earnings. Our loan helps her to buy fertilizer for her farm and items like bread, chips, and juice for her store.
Our loan to Gabriela Maria will help her to start a new business selling Avon products. Gabriela lives in the city of Otavalo, Ecuador, and at 19 years old she is helping to support her mother and finish her education. She’ll use her loan to buy cosmetics, jewelry, and other items to start her business.
Awurade Beye Group is in Chorkor, Ghana. Member Alina plans to use this loan to buy African wax-print cloth that she can sell to support her family.
Cristina De Carmen lives in Chinandega, Nicaragua. The mother of 6 started a grocery store in her home so she could help support her family as she takes care of her children. She plans to use this loan to purchase food and everyday products to stock her grocery, and would like to add cosmetics someday.
Zenelia De Jesus is an enterprising mother of two who sells beauty products door to door in her community of Rivas, Nicaragua. Zenelia is looking to invest in the higher quality beauty products her customers are requesting, and will use her loan to support this. She also plans to someday open a store and to sell in other villages.
We love celebrating these enterprising women by choosing new entrepreneurs to support every month. If you’d like to donate, too, please visit Kiva and read more about all they do to support social and economic development.
These loans are only possible because of your support, so thank you for inviting us to participate in your celebrations so we can all celebrate these entrepreneurs together!
